Battery charge error at the end of a charging cycle for a Yaesu portable radio

As I had not replaced the original batteries for my Yaesu VX-5 and VX-7 portable radios, I thought these batteries would be good replacements. Well, disappointment. The batteries are extremely tight fits inside the radios. It was quite difficult to the the battery into the VX-7. Installing into the VX-5 was less difficult, but still harder than it should be. During the charge cycle for the VX-7, using the Yaesu charger, the radio displayed a 'Charge Error'. Unplugged the charger and reconnected. Charging notice appeared once again, but after a time the 'Charge Error' message reappeared. Now charging the battery in the VX-5, but I expect the same results. Disappointing product.
