First of all, this is an amazing cube for beginners. If you just want to learn how to solve it using simple algorithms and how to do it well, this is a great way to do it. While the cube can always be assembled in 20 turns or less, basic algorithms often require 100 turns. -150 turns. My son already knew how to solve it with simple algorithms and bought it (with his own money) hoping to learn algorithms that would allow him to solve it in 20 rounds or less. To his (and my) disappointment, the learning stops at basic algorithms. The potential is there - they've done the hard part of figuring out how to detect the cube's movements and states with the app, and it works really well (although calibration is sometimes required). So it's a shame they stopped there (at least at the time of writing this review), although adding more training to support more advanced algorithms shouldn't be difficult. The physical cube itself is great. It's definitely what you'd expect from a speed cube in terms of friction/drag - it's very smooth. And the magnets gently hold the cube in place as you spin. So really no complaints here, mechanically it's probably one of the best cubes we've used. Aside from learning, the app has some moderately interesting modes which my son enjoyed, but ends up being more interested in learning advanced algorithms than learning. how to get a cube in a specific color pattern or compete with a CPU (although crossover between people is possible if enough people are involved or if you have someone you know with such a cube). For what he does, he does it well. Engineers and developers have tried, and I hope they won't stop there. Because the good news is that what's missing can be fixed with a software update. But until then, buyers should know that if you already know the basics and want to move on, you should probably either wait or look elsewhere.
