The drain pipe in my shower cubicle has somehow come loose from the existing shower drain. I tried and tried to put the two pieces back together and ended up failing. The "reserve" bath is located above the cramped underground in a difficult to access place (due to plumbing and air ducts). On top of that, I had to do this renovation in the dead of winter, so I had to be wrapped in cold-weather gear, which would make it even more difficult. While a Wingtite drain costs more than a standard PVC shower drain, without access to the floor of the shower there wasn't a good way to replace or reinstall the shower drain. I already had an old shower drain, so it took me about five minutes to apply the silicone as instructed and tighten the drain with a riser pipe attached to a Wingtite O-ring. Seriously this saved a lot of time, I just wish the big stores had this so I didn't have to wait for the weekend to get my shower fixed. Pros: - Clear instructions - Easy to install - No need to access the bottom of the shower tray drain. Only simple hand tools are required for installation. Cons: - The price is higher than most other shower drain solutions.
