They are smaller than 16x16. to silence gap.b
The filters we buy are designed to keep our air conditioning and air filtration systems clean. So when the manufacturer says something is 16x16, it's not that size. There is a gap through which dirt can affect the system. The filter was difficult to install as it couldn't stay in place, they are smaller than advertised. I didn't have another filter so I had to use a door plug to fill the gap. The gap insulation secured the filter in place with tape. Very disappointed with this brand.
