I have quite an extensive collection of filaments including Hatchbox PLA (Medium), Fillamentum's visually stunning Vertigo PLA glitter line, several Woodfills and Copperfills, ESun PETG and Polymaker PETG, Filastruder/Veracity and FusionFilaments 3D870 HTPLA (both excellent) and Polymaker PC-Max polycarbonate blend (good workmanship but too brittle and cracking over time) to name a few. As such, I have a wide range of comparisons including several other PETGs. (ideal for MG Chemicals PETG) TL; DR. I would not recommend this material. If you want to know more details, read on. First to the colour. I know that PETG is inherently more transparent than PLA, so getting true black is difficult (I have friends in filament making who confirm this), but it seems like a failed attempt. I can understand that it's not entirely black for thin parts (where it's definitely greenish brown, but even thicker prints at 100% fill have parts of the print still showing that greenish brown in surface areas (very inconsistent). You see Don't get me wrong, the general impression from afar on thick prints is that they are black but still have a glossy muddy brown cast to them, I've compared to prints a friend made with eSun Black PLA and I'd like to keep it up.. It's still not perfect but definitely blacker than this (I wanted to try Novamaker after the recommendation of another friend who has used their blue and clear petg.) Now for the print quality: *ALL* PETG strings of my experience After There are some settings that can be greatly reduced but not completely eliminated, I would say that this PETG is a little worse than the eSun Navy Blue PETG which I have used in this regard and it is slightly inferior to m clear PETG Polymaker (although this is a slightly unfair comparison as natural/clear PETG is cleaner and therefore has less strings anyway) or MG Chemicals PETG (the best PETG I've used). Threads that stick to prints. They act almost like the thread bubbles that sometimes form during threading, as if air is being trapped in a piece of thread as it threads (the theory that this happens during threading is based solely on the arrangement of these little balls, so it may not be correct ). They're usually easy to remove, but I've seen them interfere with subsequent layers and cause some scarring in other parts of the print. I store my filament in dry boxes below 20% humidity (usually lower) when not printing, and I've seen this happen with brand new filament as well, so it can't be a humidity issue (unless that filament is hygroscopic enough to make it go bad ) when she's gone 10-15 minutes). I didn't see those little balls of thread. with any other filament, including other PETG, and I print at similar temperatures (within the range specified by Novamaker). I haven't tried doing a full temperature range test to see if they go away at higher or lower temperatures, but it's definitely weird.
