The white ones don't provide great sun protection
These are very comfortable even when using the thumbholes but the white ones do allow a fair amount of sun to get through. Especially, if you stretch them and pull them up to cover more of your upper arm/above the bicep area. However, I was pleasantly surprised how cool they kept my arms on a run on a hot day. I'll just have to stick to the darker colours.
