The first time I used a jack was to replace the front panel on our Ford 3600 agricultural tractor. My brother helped and once I had lifted the plunger high enough to remove the tire stopped me at pumping handle. The piston immediately began to withdraw. The only way to get the tire off was to keep jacking it up so the piston stayed up long enough to take the tire off. We left the jack in place while we fixed the tire. When we got back we had to do the same thing to keep the jack upright to put the tire on. Once we secured the tire, I let go of the relief valve and the jack stayed in the up position. We had to take the tractor off the jack. Not sure what happened. I have read and followed the instructions for use before use. Everything looked fine. My brother (who is a pretty good mechanic) checked the fluid and said he had never had this problem and advised me to send it back.
