Review on Black Widow MCC-500 Steel Motorcycle Carrier by Noah Lewis

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Decent price, overall quailty could be better.

I rated this carrier 3 stars, mainly for build quality. I will start by saying that I have not used it yet, I’ve only assembled it so far. So review may change after I actually take it out. That being said some pros would be: 1. The price, it’s fairly cheap. 2. It has serveral supportive brackets which makes me feel a little bit better about the overall quality of steel. 3. The hitch part it’s self seems to be pretty heavy duty. Now for some of the cons that I have noticed before even loading my bike up . 1. The directions are terribly confusing. Step 1 was identifying parts, and step two was pretty much putting the whole thing together in one step. Jumbled up all in just a few sentences it was hard to figure out what to do. 2. The bolts came in a plastic bag all jumbled up together, not really many identifying factors about them besides the length, which I didn’t feel like measuring which one was which But I figured it out. The bolts also didn’t appear to be grade 8 which I would prefer on anything holding something with any kind of weight together. They felt very cheap. 3. The quality of the rest of the metal wasn’t very good. This includes the brackets that are there for added strength. As I was tightening the bolts down the rails and brackets where both crushing in like a coke can. I had to back off or it would’ve kept going, or a bolt would’ve snapped one. I do plan on replacing the bolts, and probably remaking the rest of the carrier myself with thicker metal. As stated earlier, the hitch part itself seems nice and steardy. I will be taking my bike out this weekend so we will see how well it holds up. My honest oppinion is if you got the extra 50 bucks or so I would recommend a better quality one. I would actually prefer to use a trailer, but I was in a pinch and really wanted to be able to ride this weekend.
