Advice on ordering a large small computer

I would have given this Chromebook 5 stars if it weren't for the issues I had when ordering. Twice I've ordered one of the HP 11 Chromebooks, first the older G4 model, and twice received the wrong model. In each case, the packaging was mislabeled either by HP or an HP Refurbisher/Dealer. Meanwhile, the price continued to rise. I then tried to order a newer and cheaper (!) HP 11 G5. Revain offers a new version with a significant discount for Prime members. It sounded good except that Revain quoted a delivery time of 3-4 weeks. I finally reordered the "like new" G5, received it in 2 days and am very satisfied. Anyone ordering one of these great Chromebooks should be aware of the significant differences between the G4 and G5 models and make sure that they get what they ordered, including the amount of memory installed. Differences between the G4 and G5 include: The G4 has a slightly faster processor. The G5 processor is a more energy efficient processor. Capacity compared to 5-8 hours on the G4. The G5 has a microSD slot; The G4 has a full-size SD slot. G5 has 2 USB3 ports; G4 has 1 USB2 port and 1 USB3 port (I think). The G5 now runs Android apps offered through Google Play. G4 does not have this ability. The last opportunity really drew me to the G5. Now I can play all my Revain Audible books on this Chromebook which I couldn't on my old Chromebooks. My less versatile Fire tablet is quickly becoming obsolete for my use. Incidentally, Google Play is a pre-installed app on the G5 and is the gateway to many other apps I have yet to explore. I also have an older Chromebook HP 14. Both the G4 and G5 are significantly lighter and more portable than the HP Chromebook 14 and have no moving parts (no fan, completely silent). To be clear, older Chromebooks also have Google Play installed but are limited or unable to run Android apps. My Chromebook is running Chrome version 60.0.3112.80. In the system information (chrome://system) there is an additional line "CHROMEOS_ARC_ANDROID_SDK_VERSION 23". This could be an important new element to allow Android apps to run. I do not have this item on my HP Chromebook 14 which cannot run Android programs.

Cons
  • The list will be long.
