Review on MalloMe LEDs Camping Lantern Flashlights by Lequon Kaneshiro

I have ordered these MallowMe Camping Lights (4x) as well as these Etekcity 2 Pack Portable LED Camping Lights which use 6 AA batteries (black foldable). I will compare and contrast these two products. I have no affiliation with either company, I paid the regular Revain price for both products and no one has contacted me about this review/comparison. I'm only doing this because I'm sad enough to compare camping lights (read about what you will!). Plastic body and metal handles appear to be identical. So identical that I'm 90% sure they're from the same casting. The transparent plastic protection for the light elements is also identical. Both have a screw on the bottom that secures the three batteries. Aside from the lighting (which I'll get back to) the only difference is the logos and Etekcity has a paper sticker on the bottom with the model number, made in China, website, CE mark, etc. So, all the important lighting. Here they differ greatly. MalloMe has six LEDs evenly spaced around the top, pointing downwards. Etekcity has thirty (!) LEDs, 10 per side, so a total of 3 sides. The MallowMe LEDs appear to be a lot brighter than the LEDs in the Etekcity configuration, but based on sheer numbers (30 vs. 6), Etekcity doesn't disappoint. But here's the surprising thing: none of them are "better". So both are bright enough to light up an average room. Both will hurt your eyes if you stare at them for too long. The way MallowMe emits light is similar to a traditional incandescent bulb, meaning the light hits the sphere and this sphere refracts the light in all directions and there is a mirror surface on the underside to enhance the effect. Etekcity simply aligns the LEDs in all directions. Both have advantages: - Etekcity masters every corner perfectly. It's also lighter overall. But the light looks very artificial and its presence on the periphery, even at a distance, is uncomfortable. This is because the LEDs light up in response. - MallowMe is less bright and doesn't fit in all corners. But it offers a softer and more diffuse light source. MallowMe is like a regular 60W lightbulb that you won't even notice after a while. , it is important to see every centimetre/further). MallowMe is probably the best light for a tent/camper van because the ambient lighting is just more comfortable. In terms of price and quality, they're within two dollars for a flashlight, but the Etekcity comes with batteries. So they end up being about the same price per flashlight. I give both 5x stars and recommend you buy the one that suits your needs better (pleasant or working light/hiking).
