Not a candidate for a transitional jacket from autumn to winter.
Most reviews recommend ordering at least one size up. I think 2 sizes would be more accurate. My son is 9 and wears a size 12. I ordered a 14/16. Fits like a 10. Also, the material feels weird. How prickly. The sherpa is not very plush and the sleeves are only lightly lined with satin fabric. It may work for some, but not what I had in mind. The one I ordered for my daughter also had a terrible smell.
