I bought this because I always feel a bit awkward when I'm working with a new Apple remote. Sometimes I click on the wrong end. Plus, it's smooth enough to slide over. I've dropped it more times than I'd like to. My family laughed at me when I put it on the remote control thinking it was unnecessary. Well, who's laughing now? Me. My husband shyly admitted that the remote control was easier to hold and use. And that might not apply to every home, but we have a metal box on the table and a metal cocktail table in the living room, and the magnets in this case allow the remote to stick to it.
