Sufficient for a short time, but for 2 applications.

Good for 1 or 2 uses but the threads failed on the 3rd use and I have lubricated the threads with a good quality grease before each use. The metal in the thread is too soft. The photo shows where the threads stretched. and I almost ate Tuesday in the spring because I was in the middle of spring work. .

Dangerous Failure Experienced

I share the same experience as the other one star review. After using this product on the third spring I've ever used it on, the threads in one of the compressors snapped, causing the spring to decompress violently. Fortunately there were no injuries. I really wish I could give this thing five stars, but I can't for a tool that lasts a fraction of what should last a lifetime and could have cost me a couple of fingers. I would also like to add that the thread was well lubricated.

Failed within 30 seconds of first use

Took 30 seconds before a compressor end broke while compressing Escalade springs. The springs aren't very heavy, I was a bit shocked that the supercharger shattered like that. The pin holding the end piece just broke. I welded it back on and it worked great after that, but for the price I wouldn't expect to have to weld it together for it to work as advertised. My cheaper McPherson compressors have been used dozens of times over the last 5 years and have never given me any problems, I just…

Really hard mode. Required for 1/2 ton vehicles and above

My factory 2012 LT springs were too strong for standard 10" "heavy duty" spring compressors. The bolts were bent and I was afraid they would break and hurt me. They are a bit pricey but worth it for large car springs. They turned with ease and did it quickly. Must be just to be safe. No 5 stars due to poor handling and packaging. The male thread that holds the bottom bracket to one of the bars was so difficult to turn that I had to clamp it in a vise and use the PB Blaster to wiggle it back and

High quality compression clips, great design (updated)

I bought this tool instead of the standard spring compression tool because they were always disposable, junk. I've used the old school look at least 50 times in my past. They undress, tie and just hurt. I thought it must be better and they are way better. They were oiled but I added more to keep them smooth. These things are a lot smoother and more consistent than the old style, it's not even a comparison. I have zero problems with them. It seems that as long as they are lubricated they will…

Saves me hours of work and curses.

This is my new favorite suspension tool. What am I using it for? 2.5" coilovers on a Toyota 4Runner. If, like me, you have an obsessive-compulsive disorder with suspension, ride height, and comfort, you should pick this guy up. Before I had this tool, I spent 3 hours installing coilovers from an adjustment truck. Not anymore. Because this compressor is so compact I can now make adjustments ON THE TRUCK. So. Park it. Attach the spring compressor to the coils while the truck is under its own…

Meets Heavy Duty Demands

This spring compressor is much easier to use than traditional spring compressors. The closed cover around the bolts also offers security if the bolts burst under high pressure. I bought them specifically to build a heavy duty shock absorber for my Toyota 4Runner. I've done this job before with conventional spring compressors. The width of the clamps on these compressors tend to be large and in some places extra thick, preventing the clamp from being removed after the frame is assembled. In this

Be sure and it will work for you.

Just used this on a 2009 Silverado 1500 to replace shock absorbers. Short test - works perfectly. Longer Version - These two-piece devices are damn questionable to use, the nature of the design will only result in misalignment and eventual fly-out of the rods from the compressed spring. Realizing this, I took extra precautions to use them safely. Once you get them, clean them, grease the threads and twist them a couple of times. This will get rid of any imperfections so they work smoothly. The…
