They are very difficult to open, you need to use a lot of force to open them, which may cause the contents to spill out. Also, there are gaps between the lids and containers so something can spill out. I use these containers when painting diamond paintings. I wouldn't recommend them for that. More than once I've accidentally dropped one of the containers while it was closed, only to open the lid and spill the "diamonds" onto the floor. I also had trouble opening containers. These containers open when you don't want them to and don't open when you want them to.
