The jar is small which makes it difficult to scoop out the balm. I was hoping for a jar big enough to dip my dog's feet in, I have a lab mix. The balm is a bit harsh at first until you warm it up with your fingers to make it easier to apply. My dog wasn't too bothered about licking it off, although it was a bit difficult to apply as he didn't want me to touch the pads of his paws. I think it's a good product, the smell is ok. It works like regular petroleum jelly, allowing dog paws to glide across the tiled floor. I think it works to soften his paws.
