I bought both this case and the Jemache case for my new Note 9 to see which fits best. My Note 9 is in an Otterbox Symmetry case. While the Note 9 and case slide easily over the Jemache strap, the LovPhone strap fits very snugly. It will still slip into your pocket, but it's tight. The LovPhone case will not fit in a thicker case than the Otterbox Symmetry. Or, dare I say it, go with a case that's more rubberized than the Symmetry. The Symmetry's plastic outer shell was smooth enough to keep drag to a minimum. I will keep the LovPhone headband for travel but will use the Jemache headband for everyday use. I worry that the stress of squeezing the Note 9 and case together and pulling them out of the strap will eventually cause the stitching to fatigue or tear. So just keeping it for travel should help. If I didn't have a case for my Note 9 at all, it would be fine.
