Review on IceCap K1 50 Skimmer by Amanda Smith

I would give fewer stars if it didn't end with a great skimmat. This skimmer is extremely temperamental towards slight fluctuations in the water level. I set up my sump as a flow-through tank and the water level only fluctuated depending on the level between the auto-top fill point. And it didn't work at all. There was no golden mean. So I remodeled the sump and tried hanging the skimmer with the bracket that came with it. The mount is basically useless, it doesn't hold the skimmer well. So I had to lay out part of the light diffuser to sit inside the palette. I then had trouble adjusting and found that the water flow control flap was leaking at the top where it snaps. I finally got it set and it does a great job of skimming and its compact size is great for small tanks. So 4 stars.
