Review on Presto 04213 Electronic Digital Timer by Jesse Nell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Don't pay too much attention to this timer

FIRST CHECK: You will need a tiny screwdriver to install the batteries. There are four screws in the 1/8 inch holes. There are better ways to gain access to the battery bays, but apparently the Chinese engineers haven't figured them out yet. The screws are Phillips and recessed about 1/4 inch. The battery is an AAA UPDATE: Well, I was wrong. It was only after using it that I realized that you need to lift the magnet/clip to access the battery compartment slider which is partially hidden underneath. But I still don't like that particular timer. It has a loud and annoying beep which may be a plus for some people. The numbers remain visible at all times, which I believe is at the root of the rapid battery drain that others have reported. Just use rechargeable batteries and that's not a problem - my battery lasted a lot longer than I expected. I don't care about the lack of a number pad, but you can change the time fairly quickly: press both minutes and seconds to clear the numbers, long-press either minutes or seconds to fast-forward. What I don't like is that EVERY number beeps when resetting the time. Did I mention loud and angry? Yes. However, if you use the same time period again and keep it beeping, it will automatically reset to the time you used. Nice feature when you need it. The buttons *feel* flimsy, like they're about to break or fall off, but I have no reason to complain just yet. Not my favorite timer but works well.
