This system consists only of rods and panels. Looking at the contents of the box, the idea of the finished product becomes clear. Each segment measures approximately 14 1/5 inches by 11 1/4 inches, so there are 2 bar lengths and 2 plate sizes. The complete system is approximately 4 feet long and approximately 4 feet high in a tiered configuration. The assembly took about 2 hours. Make sure you have a rubber mallet or light mallet to evenly tap the rods into the plastic connectors. An assistant can open the rod bags as they are a little difficult to open and put the rods in your bag. Also, step back often and make sure everything looks even and correct instead of waiting for everything to be put together. I don't think I would load books like the photos show, but it's sturdy enough to hold quite a bit. It's in my teenage son's room and he always seems to have some extra stuff so we got fabric baskets for the bottom shelf. The shortest section is 2 units high and serves as a bedside table. All in all a great device for less than 40€.
