Risk of fire with electric heaters

Used this heater for about 6 weeks, warmed a small room perfectly. Then one morning the power cord shorted out right where it enters the machine and caught fire. The oscillating motion appears to have kinked the power cord on the back of the unit. The power cord is too short for the power consumption of this device.
