Review on Efficient Hardwired LED Under Cabinet Lighting: Dimmable, Wide Body Design, And Long-Lasting Metal Base by Dave Branch

They buzz when used with a dimmer switch

These lights are bright - too bright for my kitchen. So I tried using several different dimmer switches, as these lights are listed as being dimmable. I tried:- Lutron Diva LED+- Lutron Maestro LED+- Lutron DVELV-300P-WH Diva Low VoltageThe first two dimmer switches worked, but made the lights buzz noticeably. The buzzing would be louder depending on the brightness I had the dimmer switch set to. At some levels it would be pretty quiet, then get louder and louder of the course of a few minutes. I couldn't tolerate this, so I tried the 3rd dimmer in the list, which caused the lights to flicker rapidly, and did not dim them at all.My house has modern wiring with green ground cables in every electrical box. I installed the lights myself, with everything hooked up correctly. I triple checked wiring and tried each light independently to try to isolate the issue - all of them had the same problem.Frustrated with these, I replaced them with dimmable UltraPro LED lights with selectable white color, and these worked perfectly fine with the Lutron Diva and Maestro LED+ dimmers - no buzzing whatsoever. The photos I included shows the differences between these lights and the UltraPro lights I ended up using. It looks very minor in the pictures, but the UltraPro 3000K white is a bit harsher and slightly less yellow than these. I like the color temperature of these over the UltraPro 3000K, but can't stand the buzzing, so I'm keeping the UltraPro lights and returning these.

Pros
  • Enhances aesthetic appeal of cabinetry and countertops
Cons
  • The fixture may not be as durable as advertised
