Review on W10616906 Pouring Shield KitchenAid Mixer by Jon Dunn

Revainrating 2 out of 5

It works oh but needs a lot of improvement

It works oh well. Not much flour flies over the counter if I add too much at once, but only when running at low speed. I can't give it 5 stars because it needs a lot of technical improvements. The rear facing the mixer is still open, allowing splashes to fall back onto the mixer. If it had two sections that could be moved it would be better. In addition, the discharge angle is a bit low. Raised at a higher, sharp angle will ensure all your ingredients get into the bowl; You still need to insert the dry ingredients with a spatula or your fingers. I'd really like a small second spout so I can use it for wet ingredients and a big one for dry ones (like flour) so it doesn't stick together. And put a hinged lid on the spouts. something comes out. But for the price it works well. It's perfect for the K45 bowl, but if you're mixing something thick or anything at high speed you have to hold it down because it just "sits" on the bowl. it doesn't snap. Need clips to securely snap it onto the bowl. Also note that it is not sealed; there is a gap between the shell and the shield. This will basically stop flour from flying at low speeds, but liquids will still slosh out of the bowl under the shield if you're not careful. I found that laying it in place and then wrapping it with plastic wrap to hold it in place and "seal" any holes worked great. Or you can just cover the blender with a kitchen towel like most people do.
