This heater was one of two in my large 120 gallon turtle tank/terrarium. Being at the back, behind the waterfall configuration, I didn't realize how much it had deteriorated, and since I have a spare glass tube heater, it kept the water warm. I'm sure it was destroyed a few months ago 14 months but I don't know exactly when. years of use. The plastic contact guards on these glass panels tend to fail after 3-4 years so I was hoping this wide profile heater would be safer for turtles and last the same or longer. Unfortunately, this is the fastest time I've had a tank heater failure. Usually others, even cheap ones, last 4-6 years. Save money and get a glass tube or a stainless steel tube with a plastic protective shield. It will probably last a few years longer than this.
