The salt shaker does not corrode and lasts a long time.

These brackets will not rust or corrode like metal and protect the wood in the barn from salt. We live in the east and because of the humidity, salt runs down the wall leaving traces of salt corrosion. The back of this block holder prevents this. They appear to be quite sturdy and are holding up well.
