Review on 💻 QNA-UC5G1T: USB 3.0 Type-C to 5GbE Adapter by Charles Lewellen

The installation process is confusing if you have a Windows PC. According to the manual, just download the drivers. That's all the manual says. However, they leave out a lot of information about the actual installation of the drivers. It seems that the download only installs the driver to turn your network adapter into a CD drive on your Windows machine. Nothing tells you this and installing the file from the QNAP website just installs and disappears. You don't see how it works. I thought I didn't install the drivers and Windows was just using the standard adapter as a CD emulator or something. I was looking for a solution in my computer folder and noticed a new disc with a QNAP icon. I opened it expecting it would fail but the hard drive opened and the setup files were there. It was the network adapter all along. After installing the drivers, the drive disappeared and everything worked. So far this is working and I'm having the best transfer speeds to my NAS, but I'm hitting a bandwidth bottleneck somewhere. I have a maximum of 230MB read and 120MB write access to a RAID 0 SSD on my NAS. My switch shows both connections as 5G Full so it's somewhere else. But I should be able to do it. If the instructions were there it would be easy. Later I will supplement this review with a better review. Update: After trying different cables I finally got the maximum speed for this adapter. I suspect he didn't like my ribbon cables even though they were only about 6 feet long and rated CAT6. It doesn't matter because now it's fully functional and I'm happy about it.
