Review on Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens, black by Vinay Rao ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It functions perfectly, nothing unusual.

There is a difference between the 50 1.8 that I used before he came along. Stunning blending effects and great drawing. Mistakes in front and back focus are distinct depending on the conditions of the photograph; fortunately, the Canon 50D corrects for these variations. While switching from auto focus to manual focus, the plastic body even makes a crunching sound, which is not a very pleasant experience. The quickness of focusing is adequate, but it may be better. The USM team is not the quickest one here. Because there is no discernible difference in the picture when comparing 1.8 to 1.4, I believe that the pricing is a little bit steep for what it is. A fair price, in my opinion, would be somewhere around eight thousand. after a period of a few months: The quality of the craftsmanship was significantly worse than anticipated. After using it for a few months, I started having trouble focusing on things. For instance, the focusing mechanism is described as follows in the user guide: "You turn the focusing ring, and the lens goes up to a particular point (for instance, 3 meters), and that's it!" You keep turning the ring, but the lens doesn't move anymore; in order for it to "come to life," you have to shake the lens. In spite of the fact that it had been handled with the utmost care, it was diagnosed as having "deformation of the focusing barrel" and "some type of rail or something of the such." I had to hand it over to the service department. When rotated, the sensations are not smooth but shaking instead, like they are on rails. Focusing is currently unclear in some way. When I was shopping for, I really should have paid more attention to similar products, such those made by Sigma. I liked 1.8 somewhat more . That was the same in terms of assembly, but it cost three times less; this was not in the least bit unfortunate.

Pros
  • Aperture\sUSM\sbokeh
Cons
  • Case made of plastic A very slight amount of play in the focus ring
