Works best in sports water bottles

I can't stop drinking water from paper cups at race helpdesks. If I try to keep running, even at a reduced speed, the water hits either my face or my lungs. Even a slow walk brings the same result. I have a Camelbak backpack that I use for long summer training sessions, but it's too heavy and bulky to carry to races without losing effectiveness. To drink water during the run, I started looking at water bottles clipped to my belt as I can easily drink from leak-proof bottles while running. The problem I had was that all models have extra zipped pockets and other weights that I don't need. I just want to carry water with as little extra weight as possible. This product came as an alternative that I could easily attach to my gel belt. It might work for cycling that has little up and down movement like running, but my gel belt is stretchy and cannot safely carry 2 bottles as they are too heavy when filled with water and bouncing up and down. My solution is to attach the bottles to a travel compression strap that is used as a harness (I used additional molle backpack straps - quick release) as it is as light as a gel strap but not stretchy. I've also added small safety pins to my water bottle pouch to keep bottles from slipping on my belt while running, and a bulldog clip that attaches to the top of my shorts to keep the belt from slipping around my waste. The clip looks clunky and uncomfortable but works great, I don't feel it when running. In summary, the setup is a great lightweight solution for marathon/half marathon hydration. I've had no issues with bottles leaking and they only release water when inverted and squeezed.
