Review on Gabriel 43048 Rear Load Carrier, Set of 2 by Roberto Garrido

Works great but pretty stiff

I replaced burned out shock absorbers in a '91 Toyota pickup with these. So far, with about a thousand miles on them, they're holding up pretty well. However, they are very stiff when the bed is empty or lightly loaded. When I'm going uphill and hit a bump, I feel the rear wheels slip briefly before the bed falls back down. They will also raise the bed a bit when empty, maybe an inch or so. If you regularly carry a lot of stuff with you, this is a great option and easy to install. If you only haul heavy loads occasionally and want a smooth ride the rest of the time, I would go with regular springless shocks.

Pros
  • Good stuff
Cons
  • Not bad but...
