and I am very happy with this purchase

this scanner just arrived this week. I have spent a lot of time shopping and am very happy with this purchase. The automatic feeder is almost perfect - it feeds each sheet in turn, it hasn't (yet) creased or warped, it supports double-sided scanning. I've put paper in it a few times and found that the software thinks the document feeder is empty, but deleting and reinserting the documents seems to fix that. Epson's software isn't great, and installing it on my wireless network was downright painful (and I work in IT!). All in all I spent over an hour connecting this thing to my standard WPA2 encrypted wireless network. The manual mentioned EpsonNet Config which was not included in the driver download. I ended up playing around with the Epson Scan 2 utility and connecting it via WDS, which I wasn't aware my Apple AirPort router supported. However, when I finally got around to scanning the documents, the connection was so unstable that I couldn't drag entire documents onto my computer - a 5-page document gave up after 2 pages and timed out a lot. I gave up and switched to USB which worked great. I also used the included ABBYY software, which is much better than Epson's own scanning software (which for some reason includes three similar programs). The ABBYY software can only be obtained by installing the Epson drivers and then running the Epson Software Updater, which seems to be the reason for the high price of the scanner. Be sure to use OCR as you are paying for it. Still, I've given up my Doxie scanners (I've bought three over the years) and I don't look back. Poor software quality aside, I'm very happy with this purchase.
