Review on 🧡 SINGER Comfort Grip Seam Ripper Set - Blue/White, 2 Pieces by Inocencio Anas

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The lid is loose, slips off immediately and cannot be attached at the other end

I thought with a name like Singer it would be a product that would be good for seamstresses. But, the hat on the big one flies right away, there is nowhere to store it at the other end, so it has no protective cap, it falls off in the sewing kit, with the tip sticking out. Not great if you keep it in a plastic bag in your sewing machine as it can puncture. The cap on the little one barely holds on, doesn't even click when it's on, comes off too easily and, like another, isn't thought through with nowhere to stick the cap on the other end (you know, like with good bic grip -Designs) so you haven't lost it. Nothing special about the handle. It's sad that this no-frills seam ripper uses a trademark with a long history. I will be buying stuff like this from fabric stores where I can handle it, not online. I bought a pair of Singer scissors which are pretty good, not top German but decent. And I have fond memories of the old Singer machines, which were built out of metal parts, not plastic, to last for many decades. These rippers really work, and while the cap and grip are nothing special, the business end seems good. I think that's the most important thing, not whether you put your finger in an uncapped tool when you reach into your sewing tool bag. Just curious, who makes well-designed seam rippers and similar tools these days? German brands or Husqvarna makes them? It seems like a small thing, but it's nice to have really good tools when you work with them a lot. Maybe I should make my own cap for it and dip the pen in a soft sponge?

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Long delivery time
