Review on Arctix Boys Steep Lightweight Insulated Jacket - Stay Warm and Cozy by Austin Olson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great jacket, not too thick but warm, with good features but the zipper gets caught in the fabric.

This jacket was perfect for my 9 year old and wasn't bulky at all but still warm. It was finally getting cold here and we gave it a try yesterday as it was windy and chilly. He, my son, doesn't like it thick, but short. This jacket comes down to his thigh. It is a waterproof jacket, so it is also suitable for rain. The sleeves fit perfectly and have a thumb hole which my son loves. He said he felt very warm wearing it yesterday and last night and because it's not so bulky he can play freely. My son likes the black with blue and red stripes but please note I didn't find that colorway or pattern cute. It's his jacket and he says I'm wrong. There are zip pockets and a detachable hood. Also, this jacket is machine washable, which I think is a plus. Now for a problem I have with this jacket. Where the zipper is on the front, there is fabric on the inside that gets caught in the zipper when you pull it up and down. Therefore, you must be careful when zipping up so that the zipper does not get caught in the fabric. It's not a big deal, but for a nine-year-old who doesn't have the patience, it turned out to be a problem. I had to unzip the zipper multiple times and help it close many times. I hope the fabric settles underneath and eventually stops hanging. Otherwise it's a great jacket, not too bulky but warm, with features like water resistance, a detachable hood, a statement interior, thumb holes and zip pockets.

Pros
  • Warm, but the flash is sluggish and constantly jams.
Cons
  • Sizing may not be exact, making it difficult to find the perfect fit for your child.
