Review on GeeekPi Developer Cooling Wireless Antennas by Eric Graves

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice but not perfect. Make sure it suits your needs. Buy it if you can.

I love that it packs the nano, but it's far from perfect. PROS: • I like the overall design, but it's really only suitable for projects with no I/O other than a camera module or two. • Please note that this does not include cameras, please purchase them separately. I think this is a smart move as the choice of camera and lens is very project dependent. CONS: • Mounting holes don't perfectly match my Arducam modules, but they work. It has a few extra parts and a few items were missing from my package. • The USB card reader shown in the photo was not included. • It contained no instructions other than those that came with the Nano itself, not even the instructions referenced in the video. .• Video is all you need and is mostly common sense. It was easy to put together except OMG and those parts are so small. Installing the fan on the cooler alone took more than half an hour. I'm a big guy and my fingers are too big for this job. I've done many electronics projects over the years, but even with a magnifying glass on a lighted table it wasn't physically easy.. • There were 6 transparent camera mounts and it takes 8 to mount 2 cameras. The two clear posts looked more like donut holes from the six spacers provided, but they're useless. • The TF card slot cut into the case is a joke. If you need access to a memory card, don't take this case. You could have just left that slit uncut. The case dimensions are wrong and the clearance is too big for this to work. • The antenna cutout is too small to attach the brackets. I had to turn a pair of needle noses in the holes to smooth the surface before inserting these fasteners. It wasn't difficult, but it shows poor technique. They cut the hole to size but then plated the case to make the hole smaller. • No I/O access. For some projects, this can be a really limiting factor. CONCLUSION Well it sounds like I said a lot more negatives than positives, but to be honest I think a nano on my desk, protected and chilled, would do just fine. I'm still glad I got it and I think if I were starting from scratch I would buy it again. I have pointed out many things to help you understand if it is suitable for your projects. I think it will be for me.

  • With 64 GB Class 10 High-Speed microSD card; The compact card reader fits easily in your travel bag. The anti-lost keychain allows you to attach it to your key ring, pocket with a neck strap, easy to carry.
