Our apartment is too large for one air conditioner to cool on a hot day, but our electrical system won't allow for two machines. My goal was to block off the section we spend most of our time in, rather than letting the cool air get sucked down the very long hallway leading to the door.This was pretty easy to install, and did help control the flow of air. There are problems. The curtain is too long--not available in the proper height for this particular doorway. So I cut off the bottom--this is hardly an ideal solution. The magnets that hold the two sides together fell out at the area of the cut, though I was able to deal with this by taping up the holes. A strong draft would sometimes force the curtain apart, the magnets not being strong enough. And the adhesive holding the curtain up weakened over the summer, so I had to duct tape it in place. It's a very temporary solution, but it only had to last through the summer. I've obtained a second one for next summer, in case I can't find something better by then.Given the price, I can't complain too much. It beats hanging up a bedsheet. Our dog was scared of it at first, but learned she could go through it when it was closed. The material rips pretty easily, so be careful. Had to patch it with tape several times. The other curtains of this type I looked at were too short for the doorway, so this was my only option. It would be useful if they made it in a more sizes, or made it modular--so that you could remove a section without damaging the curtain overall, to adjust for the doorway height.
