Review on ARCTIC MX-4 (2 g): Premium Thermal Paste for CPUs, GPUs (PC, PS4, XBOX) - High Performance, Long-lasting, Safe Application by Brody Jacobs

Revainrating 5 out of 5

2017 Macbook Air redesign. My idle drops from 60C to 46C and load from 95C to 70C. Amazing

Got a 2019 MX4 2g tube. Feedback: As you can see, the factory didn't even apply thermal paste to the integrated GPU, and in just a year the OEM processor paste has either evaporated or applied almost nothing. The MX4 spreads amazingly. Simply putting the number of bearings on the GPU and 3 bearings on the CPU (maybe that's too many, but it still spreads out so well), the app was probably the easiest I've ever made out of dozens of PCs and Macs I've used have rebuilt. last 20 years. The MX4 is also slightly sticky, so installing this tiny MacBook heatsink was easy. I used to be a student of Arctic Silver 5 and Ceramique 2 but switched to MX4. I notice a short curing time. I first started at 70C idle and worried (it was 60C originally) but after an hour it was around 46C with CPU idle and fan speed. As a bonus, I can max out my Intel I5 5350u at 2.7GHz with a 4500rpm fan at just 70C. Amazing 25°C drop and 2000RPM fan drop! Previously it was 95C at 6500RPM with OEM paste. Also, I noticed that my GPU came to life! Since there was no thermal paste, I got stuck at 350MHz. Now it always wants to throttle to 1 GHz! Too bad I didn't wait a year and just swap out the thermal paste when I got it. One piece of advice, be careful with the screws in this MacBook, the screw hubs are glued. They are easy to remove, watch out for the torque on those tiny T5 screws. Also, I only used 25% of my 2G tube. You will get at least 3 desktops or 4 laptops from this tube.
