Was so glad I bought this on a whim. I ended up having to measure a L*go brick to build a scale model of my kid's Halloween costume, which I had to make "just in case". This caliper was key to that and was very easy to use. It's all steel so I'm sure it will last longer and stay straighter than plastic. The digital readings are very easy to read and there is a hand ruler for those who double check. The digital display also has a "zero" function for improved precision/accuracy. You can also switch between metric and imperial measurements with the push of a button. Also comes with a plastic sleeve for protection.
