For a long time I got by with a set of Audio Unlimited 900MHz wireless speakers, but finally the wireless environment is here better in our house. too much for them and they suffered from unrecoverable interference that spoiled our viewing experience with our projector. So we decided to try the Bluetooth audio transmitter instead, replacing the Audio Unlimited cans with the pretty good sounding JBL3 that my wife uses. Unfortunately, I then discovered an audio lag/video out of sync issue that was never an issue with Audio Unlimited hardware. It turns out the JBL3 didn't have the latest low latency BT audio and the audio was noticeably delayed by maybe a third or half a second - certainly enough to render it unusable. (Someone has to invent the HDMI video delay line to compensate for this!) Anyway, it turns out the solution is to double up and buy a second BT device, since they support both sending and receiving and use that with low latency when talking to each other. Well it works - sort of - I assume the delay is a video frame or two - enough for me to notice, but not for everyone. I guess I can live with that, although I think at some point I'll have to run the wire under the floorboards or above the ceiling and fix the lag properly because I *always* know about it. Problems they seem to be pretty good devices with a trivial pairing procedure (just hold down the button - didn't even have to scan the manual) and no typing of four digit numbers. So far I've been working with a pre-charged internal battery, but soon I'll need to plug in a micro USB port to keep them charged. It looks like they can charge and play at the same time, so it shouldn't be a problem at all (except for a few extra bucks for two power supplies, but who doesn't have a ton of those these days).
