Review on Efficient Cooling: Spectra Complete Radiator CU1290 for Optimal Engine Performance by Patrick Reynolds

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I was a bit disappointed with this

. After installing a couple dozen Spectra Premium radiators (I work as a mechanic) I got a bit frustrated with this one. The packaging arrived in good condition, very few ribs were torn in transit. The included equipment left a lot to be desired. It only included 2 of the required 4 M6x1.0 screws to attach the fan assembly to the radiator and these 2 screws were 2-3 times longer than the factory screws meaning they were useless for burying. With most cars of this age (my mileage is 205,000 miles) the original equipment is too rusty to be reused (or even removed without breaking) so I had to use the spare bolts I had. Also, the fin sections closest to each end of the heatsink were poorly attached and loose. In terms of functionality, it's not a big deal, but it's disappointing. As with many aftermarket radiators, the fit was not as good as the OEM. I had to bend the front radiator mount slightly to properly clean the plastic upper tank. Again, not a big deal, but letting the plastic rub against it can lead to premature failure. A pair of pliers fixed it in 30 seconds which gave me the 1/8 inch I needed. Overall this is a bit disappointing; but I assume it works fine.

Pros

Cons
