They were VERY solid. Didn't expect them to be so heavy. I actually put them on my desk so my speakers can stand above my monitors. It worked perfectly for this application. There were a few imperfections in the metal in a few places as others have pointed out, but they were very minor. The packaging that comes with it is really well done and the instructions and details are neatly laid out. My speaker cables (with a VGA connection) didn't fit into the cable routing slots, but that's not the stands' fault. I was able to pull through and get it working. They were a bit high and the only downside I had was that I couldn't angle them down - I'd have to add some corner pieces or foam. For reference, I have Edifier S350DB speakers that fit really well (although you can't screw them on).
