Review on Dust Aid And Dust Wand Combo Kit by Marcus Dortch

Revainrating 5 out of 5

An absolute must have for your photography gear when going to dusty places

This gear has saved lives on many occasions and will now be in my camera bag forever 1. When I got this product I was in Burma tailing a National Geographic photographer. We were in Bagan and it was very dusty there. 5 days out of a 4 week trip and I got dust on the sensor. I think I screwed up, I thought. My friend had one of these in his pocket and helped me clean the sensor well enough to take some of my favorite photos. It wasn't perfect and I had to do a bit of retouching and still had to send my camera for a professional cleaning when I got home, but it did its job well enough. As soon as I got home I bought my own kit. Had the same problem at Antelope Canyon. And at my sister's wedding! The kit contains two main components: sensor dry cleaner (in the form of sticks and sticky pads). Wet sensor cleaner - dusters + swab solution. If possible, I try not to use wet sensor cleaners. , and first try to remove dust with a dry sensor cleaner. Most of the time everything is fine. I've had this kit for a few years now and have over 1/2 of it left. Conclusion: While I wouldn't use it in place of a professional camera cleaning, it's the best solution I've found. to delay you out of the field until the next harvest. The set is a bit pricey but worth it.

Pros
  • Safe and easy to use for the traveling photographer
Cons
  • Nothing here

Really disappointing. $70 and the Dust-aid platinum didn't come.
