I bought this dish because it got the highest rating from America's Test Kitchen. A small potato will push out the top and sides, but since it becomes a puree, it can be scraped into a container along with the rice potatoes. Just a little dirty. Additionally, the plastic "protrusions" that need to be squeezed to release the part holding the metal plate are small, VERY stiff, and VERY hard to squeeze enough to release for cleaning. To me, that's bad design. I've used it many times hoping it will take root and become a bit more flexible, but it hasn't gotten any easier. Even my husband had problems with it. Now it just takes up a lot of space. I think ATK completely missed the ball here. Especially if you have hand arthritis I would look elsewhere. On the plus side, if you can take it apart, it's easy to clean.
