I use it to mute PC music. My wife comes into my cave and wants to talk. I can grab it instantly without having to search for an icon to click. It may be dated, but it works faster than even the volume controls on a PC keyboard. I like the black color, metal feel, round shape, light weight and padding on the bottom. It replaced a mixer where I only used 1 channel for volume control. Use a Y-out cable to connect some Audio Engine 2 computer speakers and a Polk subwoofer. Once the various volume controls have been properly adjusted, this knob will control the volume.
