Review on πŸ’¨ Efficient Cooling Solution: Holmes Window Fan with Twin 6-Inch Reversible Airflow Blades in White by Kattie Steffens

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice fan, wrong listing info but still usable. I tried to include all the information I could find about the fan in the review.

I'll try to cover everything I know, but I'll say it from the start. Some of the information in the list about fans is just plain wrong. My review is also going to be a bit long because I will try to include the fan specs so you know what it is all in one place. Firstly, if like me you prefer to buy USA made then let me tell you this is NOT one of them. I bought this because it said "Origin: USA". I put them in and found that both the box and the fans said they were made in China. I received 2 of these and found that they are not equal in terms of the power they use. Since they have a power surge the first time you turn them on, I'll give you readings after they've been running for about 30 seconds. Fan 1 then 2 respectively High 49.7, 51.5W. Low 35.8, 34.9W. I'm just telling you not to expect an exact number as each fan draws a different amount of power. I saw one person say it draws 53 watts at high frequencies. All you can get is a rough estimate. The power cord is an 18AWG cord and is 5 feet or 5 feet long. It's just the standard two-plug end. The fan blades are each about 6 1/2 inches wide. They are both made of plastic. They also create good airflow. it would probably be comparable to a standard window air conditioner fan at high speed. Fan, or in the manual what is the CFM rating for airflow. I checked. Both fans also work together. There is no way to disable one. All or nothing. The noise level of the fans is moderate. This is a typical fan noise, of cutting blades in the air, some kind of noise. Basically, the noise level is tolerable enough to use it on a window in a bedroom or living room, for example, and watch TV at the same time. Air conditioners, only on the fan, at least. You don't hear much, if at all, from the engines. They are said to be reversible and from the photos it looks like there is a switch for that. But there is no switch. You have to manually rotate the entire fan to change the direction of airflow. There is a switch at the top of either side that allows you to control the speed from high to low and off. They are not independent switches. There is a switch in the center of the fan and a plastic lever that extends beyond the fan on either side. The fan measures 10" tall, 21 3/4" long (about 3/4" of which is the edge for attaching the side extensions), and that's without the use of the side extensions. One side of the fan has a concertina extension and the other side has a sturdy extension that slides down that ledge It comes with a unibody extension but it seems made so you can chain several of these together but I haven't found a way to buy more. about 10" in extension, with a maximum total fan width or length of about 31". It also comes with a 1 year warranty as listed. The weight of the fan is quite light. too much. Maybe 2 pounds. No wonder finally almost all the fan is plastic.I bought them to save electricity so I can put them by the window and turn them on at night to pull warmer air out of the house and cool night air, and during the day I just close the windows. I would say it's worth it compared to running an air conditioner considering it draws around 50 watts at high power compared to an air conditioner that draws around 500 watts with the fan alone and over 1000 watts when running. Part of AC too. I've only tested mine so far, so if I run into any issues I'll update. My opinion about it. I love the fan and will have lots of it. I would like them to be made in the USA as they are advertised and would like information on how much airflow they put out. A switch to reverse the blades instead of spinning the entire fan would be nice too. But for the most part I'm happy with it. At least for now. I deducted one star for incorrect manufacturing location, airflow, noise level, etc., without reading tons of customer reviews and questions.
