The back door of my house is recessed in one of those places where "going down to the basement or outside" is like a kitchen. This makes it difficult to see (or hear) other parts of the house. After adding this chime, I can now hear loud and clear if and when someone enters this door from anywhere in the house. The small tick in my picture is my addition and is not included in the purchase. I did this to avoid drilling holes in my metal door (the bell is screwed to the hook, the hook is screwed to the top of the door). Due to the spring force of the bell, double-sided adhesive tape is not suitable for attachment (slowly peels off).
