I had a "tube light" with LEDs in a plastic tube. I accidentally stepped on it so part of the LEDs stopped working. So I needed a replacement. This one is wonderful. Much brighter and much more "true" red. (The old one was pink.) I use it attached to the bed frame so we can have dim lighting in the bedroom at night while watching TV, or for occasional lighting that won't disturb a sleeping partner. If you want 360° light (around the 'rope') then this isn't the case. But if you don't mind 180° light, this option is perfect. Installation, a few plastic zip ties secured it to the edge of the bed frame (something I had to do with an old lamp) and it didn't. went to. Gives a very nice red glow. In the right "white" (light color) this can make for a great under cabinet lighting system in the kitchen!
