I used to only be able to wear 14k gold; anything else (even hypoallergenic ones) and I get a rash and my skin swells up). So I took the risk, thinking I couldn't lose at this price. I've been wearing these solid ones for over a month now and they still feel great and have no rash so I don't know what they are but they are great. I had problems with my hands (age related arthritis I think) and bought some nice diamond studs but they have a screw base which was very difficult for me to put on so these backs are very easy to put on and they stayed. Very happy with it.
