I purchased two items from various retailers. One of them ended up belonging to the Chinese region, while the other one did. The Mi Home app from Vevs allows for one account and complete customizability for both. Three weeks later, "our" equipment started to ratchet loudly, rather reminiscent of the old Yuryuzan refrigerator I used to have as a child. Since I purchased it from M. Video online and am too lazy to go to the store, I will take it to be repaired. If they solve it, I'll attempt to add more information to this review about the reasons for the malfunction and the cure discovered. How did you get it, I ask everyone who writes about plaques on furniture. Avoid investing in ultrasonic humidifiers (the same Xiaomi makes great mechanical humidifiers), install a reverse osmosis filter at home (it's quite affordable), and, most importantly, stop spamming. The minerals in the water are "churned" by the ultrasound and then fall out as steam onto the surfaces in your rooms. Ultrasound has no value. It all comes down to your water. Change the water or use a different type of humidifier. There aren't any middle ground options. I didn't take it in for repair, but since the problem is obviously mechanical, I chose to take it apart and inspect it for myself. According to what I gather, the fan, which is just clamped in the grooves between the base and the cover and isn't screwed to the case in any manner, created noise (see photo). Its own vibration and the gap in the mounting grooves were likely to blame for this. I thus put dampening tape to both sides, at the point where they met the body (double-sided Unibob soft tape). if there is no noise, of course. I'll keep tabs. Even though the issue has been resolved, assembly errors and self-repair are not the reasons we purchase equipment, therefore I won't be changing my rating.
