I'm learning to weld and I love this grinder. I bought it in February and wanted to wait to write an honest review. I got it with a 5 amp hour battery and this thing kicks @$$. It's very quiet, I can use it anywhere in metal cleaning, it perfectly cleans welds and removes slag in less than 5 seconds with a braided wire wheel, I haven't touched a wooden wire brush for a long time. This thing takes 2 1/2 hours for a variety of classroom loops. If I really need to work on a weld (e.g. grinding a 7018 to make a groove along the weld for the cap to fit through) I hook up a mains powered grinder so I don't have to worry about draining. my battery, if i just have to remove the excess weld metal because i was driving a bit slow, the thing comes off like butter, is the tube root gap too narrow? Put a grinding wheel on it and get a perfect 1/8" gap without having to go through the shop to a vise/hole/grinder (and you know you'll be waiting for it). It grinds the bases of the panels. and whistle like any corded grinder. I have 2 batteries for it and very rarely do I have to get a second one. I had 4 other students using the same battery for most of the night. I carry it in a bag around my back with 3 other bikes so if I need to clean up a bit this thing is there and ready to go.
