Edit: I tried another USB 2.1 port and it works fine. updated rating from 1 to 5 stars (old rating) Woman bought something similar for her car. It was great so I bought this one. Installation was easy and I plugged the cable into a 2.1A USB port, I attached the phone to the air vent and was on my way. The first thing I noticed was that the phone indicated that it paused charging and then started charging again. This happened 2-3 times per minute. After a few minutes I saw that the battery life started to decrease. It didn't charge at all (although my phone had a charging indicator). After about 20 minutes of driving, the battery charge dropped from 91% to 88%. I unplugged the mount and used a regular USB-C phone charger to use the mount without power. This mount has an auto open/close feature that obviously doesn't work if it's not powered. In the meantime, I'm going to connect the mount and the phone to get the functionality it should have on its own.
