We have a ladder that we need to keep the dogs outside. I wanted it to look smooth, not ghetto like a baby gate. It was pretty easy to put together if you're used to packing things. Pay attention to the installation - I went to YouTube, but I couldn't find a video about this particular gate, there were similar, but different models, and this is important. Then I tried to assemble it without reading the instructions in detail (it looked pretty clear), but it's worth just reading the instructions and following the instructions step by step. I spent about an hour installing it, while it would take half the time if I just read the first two pages of the manual step-by-step. You must tighten the screws enough to properly close the gate. Finding the right spot takes a little finesse. I'm in Seattle and this is outside so like everything out here I had to spray clear coat/waterproof it. Would I buy again - looks good, feels good.
