The phone is not a dual line!

I have had Ooma for many years and am mostly happy with it. However, I had some issues that I thought buying this Ooma DP1 phone would solve. I have two phone numbers using Ooma, with a Telo device and Linx for two separate phone lines. They have been connected to my two-line landline at my house for many years. I can press Line 1 or Line 2 on my 2-line landlines and make or receive calls on either line. Fax never worked as intended on Linx so my Line 2 is set to Telo as I have found that faxes work as long as the phone number is on the Telo machine as it is connected directly to the internet connection. However, with this configuration it means that voicemail is played on Telo for line 2, not line 1. I figured buying a DP1 phone with two lines would solve this problem since I have voicemail for line 1 on DP1 and voicemail for line 2. Both telos are on my desk. Turns out the DP1 isn't a real two-line phone. It is intended for customers who have a phone number and can push line 2 to DP1 for a virtual second line but not a dedicated phone number. Spent hours on the phone with Ooma over the course of a week trying to get it working. , but in the end it just doesn't work like a regular two-line phone. Ideally the DP1 should ring on Line 1 or Line 2 when I get an incoming call on either of the two phone numbers I have through Ooma, but that's not going to happen. Also, you cannot pick up the handset or speakerphone on the DP1, press the Line 2 button, and dial from the second line. The workaround is to press **0 or **1 before dialing the outgoing number to select line 1 (**0) or 2 (**1). Voicemail is also only available for one line and caller id not working for line 2 or not ringing on an incoming call. There were some workarounds that I found, but never all of the features worked properly. Get caller ID to work on line 2, but voicemail defaults to using line 2 instead of line 1. Finally, Ooma said it's just not designed to work with two phone numbers, which is a bit odd for a two-line phone is. The buttons are also a little hard to press and don't beep when pressed, although I've enabled that feature in the settings. Works for a while, then stops working. If Ooma could make this device work with two phone numbers, it would be a good product. Since my existing landline connections with two lines work perfectly, I have found an alternative. The CM18445 is exactly the same phone with many nice features like up to 4 lines, music on hold, call recording and many more features. The model above is available in black and silver, but there is an alternative model, number AM18447, which is all black. The only difference is the color and AM stands for Revain as it was an Amazon exclusive color. It may not be available from Revain but I bought it from eBay. The device can also be expanded with other wireless desktop computers (CM18845 or AM18247), cordless phones (CM18045 or AM18047) and/or wireless headsets (IS6200). Expandable to 10 stations. The VTech device has built-in voicemail, but I prefer to use voicemail with Ooma as it is also sent via email. To check email on VTech, I plan to dial the same phone number on the line for speed dial access, but it doesn't alert me on the VTech phone via voicemail unless I use the built-in voicemail on VTech. I will get an email notification so this should work for me.
